Last updated: October 2026 · SMAT Logistics LLC (MC-1610457, USDOT 4182270), 3817 Westbrook Ave, Rosamond, CA 93560
1. Broker role
SMAT Logistics LLC is a federally registered property broker. It arranges transportation by authorized motor carriers and does not, by arranging a shipment or by appearing on a bill of lading, become a motor carrier, warehouseman, insurer or guarantor of a carrier, except as expressly assumed in a separate signed writing.
2. Signed agreements control
Transportation arranged through SMAT is governed by the signed Broker–Carrier Agreement (Rev. 2026.09) for carriers and the signed Broker–Shipper Master Agreement (Rev. 2026.09) for shippers, together with load-specific Shipment/Rate Confirmations. If this website summary conflicts with a signed agreement, the signed agreement controls. A Rate Confirmation overrides an agreement provision only if it expressly identifies the provision being changed and is approved by an authorized SMAT representative.
3. Quotes, tenders and accurate information
Quotes are based on the shipment facts disclosed and may expire as stated. Shippers and carriers must provide accurate authority, insurance, commodity, weight, dimension, temperature, hazmat and appointment information, and promptly correct any change. Material changes may change the rate and accessorial charges.
4. Payment and fraud control
Shipper payment is Net 30 from invoice date unless a signed Credit Schedule states otherwise. No change to bank, factor, remittance or payee instructions is valid based solely on an email, text, PDF or call — verify through a previously known SMAT contact using independently sourced contact information. Carrier payment is as stated in the applicable Rate Confirmation.
5. Prohibited conduct
Carriers must not re-broker, subcontract or interchange a SMAT shipment under another authority without prior written consent, hold freight hostage, or falsify documents. Users must not misuse another party's confidential rates, carrier/customer identities or lane information obtained through SMAT.
6. Liability, governing law and venue
Cargo liability for interstate motor-carrier shipments is governed by applicable law, including the Carmack Amendment (49 U.S.C. 14706), as between the person entitled to recover and the responsible motor carrier. Except where federal transportation law or another mandatory law governs, the signed agreements are governed by California law, with exclusive venue in Kern County, California (and the applicable federal court serving that county).
